For many of us, paying for these services are more convenient that putting up with the bullshit of services like Netflix and Amazon etc… There are so many streaming sites now that it really isn’t convenient anymore.

But yes; Just like there are greedy streaming services there are greedy VPN providers. So folks should keep up-to-date on who to choose. (If you ask me, stick with either Mullvad, IVPN or Proton VPN. I’ve done a lot of research and still am on the landscape of VPNs for my master thesis, and it’s a pretty nasty corner of the internt…)

Piracy isn’t purely about getting things for free, it’s about convince and preserving digital media too.

I second Kvaesitso! Great launcher with loads of customization. I also migrated from Nigara but don’t regret moving at all.

That’s odd, I installed Nobara as my OS and almost any game is just install and click play and it plays flawlessly. Using both steam to install and Heroic Launcher (which you could try) that has the capabilities to get the games you have on GOG, Epic and Amazon Prime*. Don’t forget that in steam you need to enable Linux/Proton in settings.

Otherwise ProtonDB is a great resource to see what games run on Linux, how well they run and how each person ran the game.

Edit: I do believe getting a dedicated gaming distro does help as it has a lot of necessary tweaks pre-configured. For that I’d recommend, Nobara, Garuda or PopOS!

Does casting work fine? Assumed that casting from a PC with VPN to a TV without the VPN wouldn’t work?

Does this mean we only need one debrid account when using plex in different places? I am currently responsible for the movie+series management in my family and will put things on plex for whatever is in demand. However it would be nice if I didnt have to do this, and that they could just fetch things themeselves in Plex. Not super keen on having to pay for a debrid account per location, as debrid will ban the account if seen to be used on different public addresses (if im not mistaken)
