Radeon RX 580, or rather two of them: a “default” one, then one I use when running vfio-powered virtual machines or miscellaneous Vulkan projects I play with occasionally.

It doesn’t have all the newest features, but I run most games just fine.

That’s correct, on X11 Discord works… relatively fine, ot least that used to be the case for me.

More precisely, Discord uses an ancient version of Electron which doesn’t support most of Wayland’s shenanigans.

I’ve tried several combinations of versions and sources (at least 5), but there’s always something missing.

There’s a bunch of other things, like HDR; I don’t have a HDR monitor so I can’t say what people are missing, but I tried to mess with it in my pet-project game engine and vkSetHdrMetadataEXT just does not exist at all, and I don’t know what library or Vulkan layer could provide it.

It’s not much of a problem with BG3, more like a problem with Discord being absolute stinky festering garbage and not playing nice with my window manager at the time (Sway).

Mine is not an argument asserting that people think games can’t run on Linux, mine is a mockery of the people who do so (I know several).

Same here, I only had to run BG3 on Windows (in a VM) for very specific reasons tied to my setup.

Sway mixed with KDE,
games don’t really like it and Pipewire doesn’t work for video recording for some reason (it has to do with the KDE xdg-desktop-portal) but it’s a small price to pay for salvation I guess.

I know Sway is a window manager, not a DE - but KDE applications and services seem to fill the gaps.
They’re not necessary, but you won’t catch me dead with a GTK file chooser popup open, and I haven’t figured out how to set up Ranger to replace Dolphin (nor do I really want to).
